I am retired after 33 years with a local company and for nearly 40 years have incorporated my wife's family research into our vacation trips. We have enjoyed seeing the area our families started settling in 1613 from England and spreading westward into Texas by 1825 with Stephen F. Austin's second group of colonist without aid of welfare, food stamps, or Medicaid.
I do the driving and photography along with pulling, filing, and copying court house records while Barbara does the primary research, record keeping, and correspondence. We have found cemetery conditiions deplorable with sunflowers taller than 6 feet, and 4 foot monuments face down which led us to help form an association in Henderson County Texas.
We are proud of our heritage as our families have participated in nearly every major conflict America has participated in starting with the Revolution.
