I have been working on my family's genealogy for about 50 years; most of the basis of what I have gathered and built on to date was found by my late mother, Barbara Clift DeAngelo, long before the Internet made researching so much easier. From her, I inherited my love of history and family, and everything I do is in tribute to her.

My mother's Kentucky family reaches back to the early 1800s, when several of our ancestors migrated to Livingston, Crittenden, and Caldwell Counties from Virginia and North Carolina, with Pittsylvania Co. being the most popular point of origin. Some of the names in my maternal tree are Clift, Wigginton, Towery, Moneymaker, Riley, Crain/Green, Crider, and the Gates and Putnam families from Massachusetts. Most all of these ancestors came to this country from England or Germany (a couple of Hessian soldiers are mixed in there).

My father's family is from Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties in Pennsylvania, and Yorkshire, England - via Queens County (now Laios), Ireland. Family names on my father's side are Miller, Messinger, Lyle, Cashon, Hodgson, Kilmartin, and Parkes. I consider myself lucky that I was born and raised in the great city of Philadelphia, but am half-Southern by birth through my mother's family.

I am a charter member and past moderator of the Caldwell County (KY) Genealogy Society. We have two maxims we follow: Everybody has a story (some may be more interesting than others, but everyone has a story) and that we die twice, once when our corporal body dies and the last time someone speaks our name in remembrance. It is our mission to tell everyone's story and to make sure they are always remembered.
