I have been researching my families for thirty years. Most of my memorials are family or friends of my family. I have traveled far and wide collecting records, stories and pictures of my families. Newspaper subscriptions, historical societies, state archives, courthouses, libraries, visits to relatives and cemeteries are all a part of ways that I have carefully collected my family history. I helped enrich the post office back when snail mail was the main way to communicate. A click of the mouse is beneficial however can be misleading at times particularly if relying on someone else’s posted information without sources. I have created memorials for those close to me. They are more than just names and dates and spouses. I do not feel it necessary to post all details of a person’s life when honoring their memory. Occasionally there will be memories which are shared. I do not mind having new information offered by edit suggestions if you are closely related to the person in question. If however you detect what you believe to be a missing comma or period, please be aware that there is probably an excellent reason for the omission. And if Jane Smith has had three husbands, well, I prefer to not crowd my memorials. If on the other hand, I feel that it is important to share a particular detail, then I will do so. My memorials are individualized to the person. Thank you and have a great day.
