Holtzclaw Family Cemetery, Ashland Farm, Fauquier Co., Virginia Cemetery notes and/or description:Cemetery is on private land that was owned by the Holtzclaw family from 1724 to the early twentieth Century and was called Ashland Farm, This is the account of a family member who was there recently this year. "The Holtzclaw family cemetery sets in the middle of an equine pasture. It is surrounded by a rail fence; however, it is broken on one side and horses have been tromping thru it. It is also overgrown so it is difficult to see some of the stones or to count how many there are. None of the visible stones are legibile. As a Holtzclaw descendant, I was thrilled to discover this little cemetery for I had seen no indication of where these ancestors were buried. The propery was recently purchased by a family who seem intent on refurbishing it. I hope to work with them to have the fence repaired, remove a dead tree and replace it with a more attractive tree and clean out the weeds. Hopefully, we can restore it and bring dignity to the final resting place of our Holtzclaw ancestors."
