This cemetery is located on Koinonia Farm which was founded in 1942 by Clarence Jordan with his wife Florence, and Martin England with his wife Mabel. The community established here was set up following the community described in the book of Acts in the Bible. As an outreach community, its housing ministry evolved into Habitat for Humanity International.

Those buried here had devoted their lives to the work at Koinonia Farm.
