This cemetery contains twenty-seven known grave sites. Most are the remains of many of the Barnett family, who settled Pleasant View sometime before 1801, and their servants. The headstones tell of the tragedies of early living at Pleasant View. The headstones witnessed the battle. The first burials in the cemetery predate the Civil War battle by fifty-eight years.
Eleven children are listed as buried in the cemetery. The ages range from fourteen days to eight years of age.
While Most of these markers are inscribed, there are also at least three unidentified field-stone grave markers. The proximity of these markers to the Barnett graves and their high-style craftsmanship suggests that the servants were an important part of the Barnett family's daily life. The first servant burial predates the Richmond battle by forty-two years. One servant marker, that of Joshua, identifies his cause of death as "by a stroke of lighting."
Just south of this cemetery along the trail stands a single stone. The stone is that of Betsy Herd. She and her husband owned the property after the Civil War. Mr George Herd died in December 1893 and is buried in the Lexington cemetery.
