This cemetery is run by the City of Hillsboro, TX.
As of April, 2011, for locating gravesites within this cemetery there is a very convenient electronic kiosk which allows you to search by name, and displays locations on a detailed map. The kiosk is in the South Central area of the cemetery. As you enter heading East on Julatka Rd, just as the divided road with grassy median ends, turn right and look for the small stone carport-like structure that houses the ATM-like machine.
As you enter Ridge Park cemetery you will approach a lovely median of trees, shrubs, flag pole in an elevated area bordered with concrete curbs. There is no fence at the frontage road. This is a large cemetery located in the Hillsboro City limits which is clean and has room for expansion. There is one crypt and curbing around many plots. Several plots are encased in antique fencing. The "Walling" family has a Mausoleum with 5 family members in the building and space for one more person. There are older and majestic headstones and many crosses on the grounds. Burial section numbers are located on posts in each section of the cemetery. One grave is covered with rounded concrete covering the entire service of the grave. On the North side is an area for Veterans, and on the south side is an area for indigents and African Americans. In 2018 there are about 12,000 burials.
Sections 54 thru 61 of Ridge Park Cemetery was previously known as Valley View Cemetery. Ridge Park used to be 2 separate cemeteries; one for blacks and one for whites. The 2 cemeteries merged in about 1967. The present-day location of the black cemetery is the far south-west corner of Ridge Park Cemetery. The black cemetery had existed from about 1920, but it did not appear to have a name for many years. It was typically just referred to as the new cemetery. It became known as Valley View Cemetery in about 1938, and it kept that name until about 1967 when it merged with Ridge Park Cemetery.
