Enlisted in U.S. Marine Corps, 30 Oct 1939, from Missouri. Performed basic training at Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.

Following short assignments on guard duty, Bremerton, Washington, & Mare Island, California, mustered on 7 March 1940, aboard ammunition & supply ship USS Pyro (AE-1).

In April 1940, mustered at Marine Barracks, Navy Yard, Cavite, Philippines, then transferred to Navy Yard, Olongapo, Philippines, June 1940.

In October 1941, mustered as PFC in Company H, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, Shanghai, China.

Mustered in January 1942, w/ Company I, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, Corregidor, Philippines.

Recorded in July 1942 as a prisoner of war.

21 October 1942: "Individual has been reported through sources considered official...died as Prisoner of War...Philippines Unstated Philippines 14-121 [Camp #10 - Lipa, Batangas, Philippines]. Detaining country: Japan."
