Nellie was the adopted daughter of Malinda (Webster) & Cyrus Foster. Her biological parents were Ellen Foster, Cyrus' sister, & Richard Ilsens. They moved to Michigan, unknown where, & soon after the the child was born, the mother & poss the father(?) died. The infant was returned to New York to be raised by Cyrus & Malinda. In 1870, both girls, Adellah & Nellie are with Cyrus & Malinda in Clarendon, NY. Within months of that census, Adellah died. Cyrus & Malinda raised Nellie as their own & when she married, had a daughter & became a widow at a young age, they had a big role in raising their grandchild, Merle Foster Burr. NOTE: Malinda Webster is the Great Aunt to my grandmother, Gladys Webster. They kept in touch over the years and after Mailinda died, my grandmother kept in touch with Nellie and Merle.
