Vada Victoria Dodge, age 80, of Memphis, Mo., was born February 17, 1915, near Crawford, in Scotland County, Mo., the daughter of Grover and Neva Barker Woods, and passed away September 30, 1995, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Mo.

As a young woman, she did home nursing and care for a number of families. After her marriage, she became an active part of the family grocery business. Following retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending winters in warmer climates, though she was always glad to return to Missouri and her home, family and friends.

A faithful member of the Memphis United Methodist Church, she was always ready to lend a helping hand.

The emphasis was on her family, where she was a dedicated wife to her companion of 58 years and loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Ezra, of the home; a daughter, Nancy Purvis, and her husband, Leonard, of Lake Saint Louis, Mo.; a son, John dodge, and his wife, Vicki, of Memphis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Tammy Brown, and her husband, Joseph, Teresa Harrison, and her husband, Jeffrey, all of St. Charles, Mo., Kris Dodge and her fiancé, Mike Hyde, and Matt Dodge, all of Memphis, Mo.; a sister, Reba Jones, of Downing, Mo., along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Robert, Junior and Forrest Woods; two sisters, Alberta Woods and Martha Robinson, and her grandson, Mike Dodge.
Services were held October 3, 1995, at the Memphis United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Hammack officiating, under the direction of Payne Funeral Chapel, with burial at the Memphis Cemetery. Musicians were LaMayra Brown and Joan Goosey. Body bearers were: Matt Dodge, Mike Hyde, Joseph Brown, Jeffrey Harrison, Gary Briggs, and Dale Rice.
