He was native of Cherokee County, NC; son of Alene Tipton and husband Jim of Andrews and James Bateman and wife Wanda of Nantahala. Jimmy was a foreman with the telephone industry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he survived by one son, Christopher Bateman and wife Jessie of Andrews; one sister, Lynn White of Andrews; two half sisters, Jamie Panther of Marble and Donna Clark of Murphy; half-brother, Macon Bateman and one grandson, Spencer Bateman.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Steve West will officiate. Burial will be in the Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews.
