Prayer Service Held Here Wednesday Afternoon For Bertis Odis Denson, 71 --

Bertis Odis Denson, 71, died Monday at 11 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Fulmer, on the Huntsville Road.

A former resident of Bessemer, Alabama, where he was manager of the commissary for Tennessee Iron and Coal Company, Mr. Denson came to live with his daughter at retirment six years ago.

He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. His wife died in February 1950.

Prayer services were held yesterday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home here. The funeral will be at Bessemer at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by six sisters, Mrs. John Barksdale, Mrs. O. L. Payne, and Mrs. Earl Collins of Birmingham, Mrs. Myra Denson and Mrs. Maurace Grubbs of Norfolk, Virginia, and Mrs. Emmett Robinson of Texas, and two brothers, Morgan and Grady Denson, both of Birmingham.
