An Elisha Stevens appears in every Edgefield County, SC, census from 1790 to 1860 with various numbers in the household, including the 1850 and 1860 Slave Schedules on both of which he is listed as owning slaves. The 1820 census includes both Elijah and Elijah Jr. And the 1810 census shows two Elisha Stevens in Edgefield but does not designate Sr and Jr. An Elisha Stevens also shows up on the 1810 census in Horry County, SC, and in Pendleton. The 1790 census shows an Elisha Stevens in both Greenville County and Edgefield County.
