Clyde William Sumner, Sr., age 74, of Starke, Florida passed away June 15, 2013 in Gainesville, FL. He was born on January 17, 1939 in Lawtey, FL to the late Aaron Sumner and Rosie Muse Sumner. Clyde was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and was an active member for over 30 years. Clyde loved his family, his church, and friends. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing computer games and was an avid Gator football fan. Clyde is preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny David Sumner Sr., Clarence Sumner, Clayton Sumner and his sister Mildred Bryan.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Lorene Broughton Sumner; his children, Tina (John) Hutchins of Starke, FL, Brenda (Malin) Dick of Hampton, FL, Clyde Sumner Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Carl Sumner; sisters, Evelyn Booth, Nancy Jakab, Carolyn Thornton and Barbara Gilpin; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 at 1:00pm at Smyrna Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Starling officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe Cemetery.
