Carl Mitchell, age 87, of Teaberry, husband of Fostella Jones Mithchell, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 12, 1925, at Beaver, a son of the late Crit and Daisy Hall Mitchell.
He was a former self-employed coal operator. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Crit Mitchell Jr., Willie Mitchell, Paul Randel Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell and Miles Mitchell.
In addition to his wife, Fostella, he is survived by two sons, Gary D. (Alva) and James R. (Loretta) Mitchell, both of Teaberry, two daughters, Donna L. (Gary) Rice and Sharon K. (Dean) Hamilton, both of Teaberry, five sisters, Melda Dillow, of Canton, Mich., Margaret Lois Slone, of Columbus, OH., Ruby Hamilton, of Mich., Vivian Keathley, of Teaberry, and Madge Walter, of Hamilton, OH., five grandchildren, Lisa Meade, David Mitchell, Chad Mitchell, Tina Kelly and Heather Akers, eight great-grandchildren, M.J. Meade, Lance, Kylee and Kade Mitchell, Hunter and Colton Kelly, and Addison and Addalyn Akers, and a great-great-grandson, Paylin Meade.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Saturday, August 3, 2013, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Heiko Geise officiating. Entombment will follow in Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel.
