Harry Howe was born in 1871 in Iowa. He came west to Idaho and mined in the Salmon country for awhile. Harry then returned to Iowa and married Emma Nowles [sic] of Bagley, Iowa, on April 1, 1893. The couple returned to Salmon for a while and then came to Sheridan where they lived the rest of their life. He built a home on Mill Street in 1895.
Mr. Howe took part in many enterprises in the area, including placer mining on Wisconsin Creek.
Harry was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 63 years and a member of the Sheridan Lodge since 1902. Both Mr. and Mrs. Howe were charter members of Arcelia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, which was chartered in 1903. When the O.E.S. held their 50th anniversary in 1953, it was also the Howe's 60th wedding anniversary.
Harry died in 1956, Emma in 1957. Both are buried in the Sheridan Cemetery.
