She was born August 16, 1931 in Paintsville, KY. Irene was a member of the New Hope Church Mission. She enjoyed gardening, embroidering, coloring and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Irene is survived by her children, Anna Ruth Stidham, Gary (Penny) Castle, Jane Quick, Michele McKellop and Kim (Craig) Baldwin; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Castle, her son, Dennis Castle; a grandson, a granddaughter and a great granddaughter; she was the last of her 7 brothers and 6 sisters; 1 daughter-in-law and 2 son-in-laws.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana; where funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Hauser officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 in the Turner Branch Cemetery, Steep Hill Road, Paintsville, Kentucky.
