Robert "Bob" Yopp, age 71, of
504 Railroad Ave., Richlands,
was dead on arrival Thursday
morning , May 27, at a Richlands
hospital, victim of an apparent
heart attack.
He was born in Tazewell County
and was a son of the late Robert
Yopp and Lucinda Chambers Yopp
Waldron, both Tazewell County
natives.
He was a retired Railway Main-
tenance Man for the New York
Central Railway, having worked
for the company for 28 years, and
was a member of the Brotherhood of
Maintenance of Way in New York
City, NY.
He wad made his home in the
Richlands area since his retirement
in 1971 and attended the Doran
Baptist Church. He had served in
the U. S. Army and was a Veteran
of World War II.
He was preceded in death by one
brother, Mr. William Irvin.
Survivors include: his wife,
Mrs. Louise Harris Yopp of New
York City, NY; two daughters,
Miss Nancy Yopp and Miss Genievive
Yopp, both of New York City, NY;
one son, Robert Yopp, Jr. of New
York City, NY; one step-son,
Donald L. Yopp of New York City,
NY; one sister, Mrs. Sylvia W.
Amburn of Martinsville; one
brother John Thornsbury of
Kentucky; three grandchildren
also survive.
Funeral services were conducted
Sunday afternoon May 30 at 1 pm
in the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel
in Richlands with the Rev. Porter
Cordle officiating. Interment
followed in Hankins Cemetery in
Richlands.
Pallbearers included: Lonnie
McClanahan, Willie McClanahan,
Cletus Bragg, Jerry McClanahan,
Charlie Anderson and Cecil Ray.
Honorary pallbearers were friends,
neighbors and employees of the
Mattie William Hospital.
