Waldon A. Tverstol, 74, of Bemidji died Friday, Jan 3, 1997, at Beltrami Nursing Home. Funeral services were at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born July 23, 1922, at Argyle, Minn., the son of Ole and Olga Tverstol. He grew up and attended school in Argyle until his family moved to Clearwater County. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to Clearwater County after his stint in the service and returned to farming. He married Genevieve Gurneau May 3, 1953, at Cass Lake, and had since lived in Bemidji. He worked in the mines at Hibbing and in the woods at Big Falls. He then worked at Pine Ridge Service Station in Bemidji until a back injury forced him to retire. He was a member of the Bemidji VFW.

Survivors include his wife of Bemidji; four sons, Wally, Glen, and Harold Tverstol, all of Bemidji, and Lauren Tverstol of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Lynette Koebernick of Morris, Minn., and Patricia Tverstol of Bemidji; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother Arlo Tverstol of Black Eagle, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Dorothy Higgins.
