William Swain, 80, resident of Tomahawk, died in a Louisa hospital at 12:15 a.m., Monday, October 28, after an illness of several months. He was the father of Melvin Swain of this city. Mr. Swain was born in Winston Salem, N.C., May 14, 1883. Survivors also include his 2nd wife, the former Ida Preece; two other sons, Irvin Swain, North Carolina; Russell Swain, Hartsville, Ohio; three daughters, Carry Conley, Tomahawk; Ethel Meeks, Tomahawk; Myrtle Delong, Suffield, Ohio. Also surviving are the following step children: Mae Crum, Debord; Amos Muncy, River Rouge, Michigan; Alex Muncy, Yermo, Calif; Ben H. Muncy, Ecorse, Michigan; Austin Muncy, Columbus, Ohio; Robert G. Muncy, Texas. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the old Friendship United Church at Williamsport with Sam Herald, Nim Sturgill and Arthur Preece as officiating ministers. Burial was in the Pack-Preston section, Swain plot of Olde Friendship Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Williamsport, Johnson County, Kentucky, USA.

NOTE: His 1st wife was Mary Penix , daughter Of Lafayette Penix and Mary (nee Ward) Penix. She was the Mother of all his children.

Gravesite Details

Swain Plot is located on the cemetery point at top of hill where road curves to left. Plot is marked with "Swain" double headstone marker. (Melvin and Golda are there). Can be seen from road as you reach the top of the hill. Swain Plot is
