Wilhelm F. Krueger was born in Bergwitz-Wittenberg, Saxony, Germany as first of six children of Gottlieb Krueger & Johanne Renate.

The couple settled in the Richland Community in Travis County. Later they purchased a farm on County Line Road between Bastrop and Travis County three miles east of Elgin.
