Funeral services for the late Olaf Hedman and father of several Rhinelander residents, were conducted in Bridgeport, Conn., on Jan. 8, it had been learned here. Mr. Hedman died in New York City on Jan. 3.
Mr. Hedman was born in Sweden on June 19, 1883. Shortly after reaching the age of 20, he came to this country, going first to Chicago and then coming to Rhinelander. He lived here for eight years, during which time he was married to Johanna Hasselquist, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Hasselquist of Rhinelander. Mr. Hedman and his family moved to Greenbush, Minn., in 1912. After Mrs. Hedman's death in 1922, Mr. Hedman visited in Sweden and, upon returning to this country, visited friends and relatives in Rhinelander. He returned to his Minnesota farm and then went to New York to live. He remarried in June 1944.
Among Mr. Hedman's survivors are his widow; three sons, Arthur Seabloom, who has been a prisioner of war of Germany since June 1943, Edwin Hedman, of New York City, and Henry Hedman, of Rhinelander; and five daughters, Mrs. Edna Smith of New York City, Mrs. Herbert (Jane) Kley, of Rhinelander, Mrs. Agnes Steinfeldt, of New York City, Mrs. Eleanor Sundgren, of Miami, and Miss Alice Hedman, of Ithaca, N.Y.
