Jerome Russell Hamilton was born to Henry Bernard Hamilton and Dorothy Lucille Freeman on January 17, 1941. He attended St. Joseph's Cathedral School and graduated from St. Augustine High School.

Jerry was a talented jeweler and enjoying designing and casting new pieces of jewelry. He was shot in the head during a robbery and lost his depth perception in one eye causing him to be unable to continue in his career as a jeweler. Jerry went back to college and obtained a degree and teaching credential and then began a second career as a high school teacher.

Jerry was killed in a one car collision on southbound Interstate 5 in San Diego just north of the United States Border.
