Jerry was a talented jeweler and enjoying designing and casting new pieces of jewelry. He was shot in the head during a robbery and lost his depth perception in one eye causing him to be unable to continue in his career as a jeweler. Jerry went back to college and obtained a degree and teaching credential and then began a second career as a high school teacher.
Jerry was killed in a one car collision on southbound Interstate 5 in San Diego just north of the United States Border.
