Ralph Duxa "Biti" Bitikofer 85, of 1531 Oak St., Dover, died Friday, Aug 8, 1997, at Union Hospital following a brief illness. He retired in 1981 as sales representative for Kidron Electric where he worked for 19 years. He also formerly worked for Valley Farm Supply at Dover and Sugarcreek Farmers Equity. He was also a real estate agent for Eberle Realty Co. at Dover. Born April 12, 1912, near Walnut Creek, be was the son of the late August and Barbara Gardner Duxa. He was also preceded in death by his foster parents, Nick and Lena Schnitzer Bitikofer, a sister, Pauline Castle, two foster brothers and one foster sister
are also deceased. Ralph was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover, a charter member of the Dover Jaycees, was a co-founder of the Chemical People, member of the Dover Eagles Lodge, social member of the Dover VFW and was a graduate of Walnut Creek High School. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. King Bitikofer, with whom he would have celebrated 66 years of marriage Oct. 17; two daughters and two sons, John (Alice Faye) Bitikofer of Dover, Marlene (Ronald E.) Tschudy of Dover, Diane Tygard of Cuyahoga Falls, and Mark (Virginia) Bitikofer of Willoughby; eight grandchildren, Kevin and Brian Tschudy, Jodi France, Chris Bitikofer. Greg Tygard, Gena Williams and Karl and Eric Bitikofer; two sisters, Mary Castle of Cleveland and Agnes Crawford of Walnut Creek; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Interment will be in Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral home in Dover Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St John's United Church of Christ at Dover or Hospice of Tuscarawas County.

The four children of Augustus and Barbara {Gardner} Duxa were all raised or adopted by other families after their parents died. Augustus died from an accidental shooting 20Sep1911, and his wife Barbara, died seven months later on 28Apr1912, sixteen days after giving birth to Ralph. Ralph was initially taken in by George Flinners and later
adopted by Nicholas Bitikofers.
