Terribly burned about the- back and lower portions of the body when he fell backward into a pail of hot water at his parents' home near Lowville, Stephen Petrus, 3, son of- Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Petrus, died Sunday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, Watertown.
The accident happened early Saturday evening at the- family home on Route 4, Lowville. The child was playing about the house and in some manner fell, going backward into the hot water. The child was given treatment and was brought to the hospital by his parents shortly before noon Sunday.
Dr. F. R., Calkins attended him. but the child's condition was so serious that little hope was held out that he would survive. Death came at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The body was taken to the family home for funeral and interment. Lowville Journal and Republican, April 19, 1928
