Henry was a farmer and a stockman, living in conjunction with his mother and father, between Flora and Cisne IL. Tombstone states that he died October 28,1876, but the Stevens' Bible has his death on the 22 October 1876.

In the 1850 census, his father and mother were listed in Athens (now Vinton) County OH, but not Henry. In a land record, in 1844 it states Henry Stevens of Jackson County OH.
