Mrs. Inez Stamey Martin, 74, of Jefferson, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at Athens Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Martin was born June 21, 1927, in Brevard, N.C. She was a daughter of Mable Corn Flanagan, Travelers Rest, S.C., and the late Reid Stamey.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of Galilee Christian Church, Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Martin, and a son, James Ronald Martin.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Herman Buffington, John Crenshaw, R.L. Griffeth, Greg Keith, Forrest Seabolt and Thomas Wilbanks served as pallbearers.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Martin is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Henry Doster, Jefferson; sister, Nell Case, Brevard, N.C.; brothers, Bobby Flanagan, Piedmont, S.C., and Tom Flanagan, Liberty, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Lou Ellen Hamilton and Juanita McKinney; special friend, Charlie Horn, Athens; grandchildren, Tammy and Scott Buffington and Darrell Doster, and fiancée, Lisa Duffy; great-grandchildren, Martin Lee Buffington and Brittany Buffington; adopted grandchild, Kelly Pritchett; and several nieces and nephews.
