John Lynn, Sr., Dead After Long Illness

After a long illness which had confined him to his home for a year, John Lynn Sr., of 14 Middle Tedrick street, Cork Lane, died last night at 10 o'clock at the family home. A few months ago Mr. Lynn entered Mary Kellar Hospital, Scranton, for treatment, but his condition failed to improve. One month ago he returned to his home and daily his condition had grown more grave until death ensued.
Deceased was born in Pittston township and had made his home there his entire life. His wife proceeded him in death nine years ago. Mr. Lynn was a machinist by trade, having been for years employed at the Pittston Stove Works. Some years ago he constructed a miniature railroad engine, operated by steam, which he had mounted upon a circular railroad track, and it was the delight of all the children of the neighborhood to see the engine operate. Lately Mr. Lynn had been employed as machinist at No. 6 colliery, Pennsylvania Coal Company.
Mr. Lynn was a member of St. John's R. C. Church and the Holy Name Society. His survivors are the following sons and daughters: James of Philadelphia; John, Jr., George, William, Joseph and Marie. Three brothers and one sister also survive: James of William street; Henry of Wilkes-Barre; Frank of Main street this city; and Mrs. Mary Jackson of Avoca.
The funeral will be held Thursday morning, leaving the family home at 9 o'clock. At 9:30 o'clock a high mass of requiem will be sung over the remains in St. John's R. C. Church. Internment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
