Clark was a son of Wesley and Jane Clark Fritz. He, his brother George Thomas and his sister inherited the family farm after his father's death. After his sister's death, he sold his share to his brother. He then went west, where he mined gold. Returning to Dansville in 1925, he lived the family homestead where he died of a heart attack. He never married. He and his brother, George died within five days of each other.
