Charles Ambus passed away peacefully in Burlingame, Ca. the morning of June 19, 2016 after spending an afternoon with his daughters, Antonia and Peggy Ambus. He was 99. He leaves behind two granddaughters, whom he adored and was beloved by in return.
Charles was born in 1916 in Themia, Crete, Greece. The oldest of seven siblings, he immigrated to San Francisco in 1952. He was married to the late Argyro Ambus for 47 years and together they were an active part of the city's Greek community. He is survived by his brothers Anthony Ambus and Petro Ambadiotakis, and his sister Kiriaki Trahalakis. He will be remembered by all for his warmth, intelligence, love for American westerns and the bright smile behind his characteristic moustache.
