Vivian Hanson, 82, of Alvarado, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Vivian Delores Haugen was born on December 30, 1930 in rural Oslo, MN, the daughter of John and Viola (Tverstol) Haugen. She attended Northstar Country School and graduated from Alvarado High School. On January 15, 1948, Vivian was united in marriage to Ralph Hanson. They made their home in rural Alvarado where they farmed. Vivian and Ralph moved into Alvarado in 1989.

She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, WELCA and Alvarado American Legion Auxiliary.

Vivian and Ralph enjoyed 27 winters at the Adobe Wells Park in McAllen, TX. She was well known for making delicious buns and doughnuts.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Ralph; four children, Cherryl (Darrell) Olson of Alvarado, Roberta (Roger) Mischel of Warren, MN, Chris Ann (Randy) Jenkins of Lake Park, MN and Jeff (Tena) Hanson of Alvarado, MN; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Kollin of Alvarado, MN, Jan (Dwight) Marciniak of Alvarado, MN, Kay (David) Olson of Ramsey, MN and Kelly (Rose) Haugen of Wyoming, MN and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Randy and Bradley; grandson, Darin Olson; sister, Bonnie Olson and three brothers, Dean Haugen, Floyd Haugen and Lee Haugen.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Monday, May 13, 2013 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado, MN.
VISITATION: After 5:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Sunday at New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
INTERMENT: Elim Lutheran Cemetery, Alvarado, MN
