Son of Heister and Rachel Keeley Keith, he married Mary Margaret Starr, was widowed, had been an oil pumper and machinist, lived at RD#3 Franklin, Sugarcreek Township, died there of a coronary occlusion due to arteriosclerotic heart disease and generalized arteriosclerosis, per death certificate 78531, whose informant was Wayne Keith of the same address. Buried Aug 4 1958.

Verne Keith, 85, of Franklin RD 3, Keeley's Corners, was found dead at home at 4 pm Friday. It is believed he died about an hour earlier. He was born Aug. 26, 1872, in Venango County, son of Heister and Rachel Keeley Keith.

Even at his advanced age, he had been active and worked about his home until just before his death. He was in apparent good health, He was highly regarded by a wide circle of friends, and endeared himself to his neighbors by being ever helpful. He worked as a pumper on area oil leases, especially those of J. J. Sheasley, and worked as a machinist for Franklin Valveless Engine Co., retiring 28 years ago.

In March, 1896, he married Mary who died Feb. 28, 1956.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. Melvin (Mildred) Cratty and Mrs. Roy (Leona) Ritchey of Oak Hill, Dale F. Keith of Hawthorne, CA, Mrs. Roy (Priscilla) Lusher of Franklin RD 2, Mrs. David (Rachel) Orr of Prospect Park, and Wayne Keith of Keeley's Corners; two brothers, Ross Keith of Keeley's Corners, and Clifford of Monaca; and two sisters, Mrs. Addie Stokes of Sugar Lake, and Mrs. Temoy Davis of Buffalo, NY. Deceased are three children, Elgie, Russell, and Ruth.

Services will be at 2 pm Monday at Burger Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth E. Graham, pastor of Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
