Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Martins Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Jay Conn officiating. Burial will take place at the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Martins Creek Mennonite Church.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Wycliffe Associates through Martins Creek Mennonite Church, 6111 County Road 203, Millersburg, Ohio 44654.
Vernon was born Jan. 23, 1934 in Berlin Township Ohio and was the son of Eli and Mary Ann (Hershberger) Weaver. He married Bertha Miller on April 21, 1955 and she survives. Vernon was a 1952 graduate of Berlin High School. He was a farmer for 50 years and was co-founder and former co-owner of Holmes Rental Station. Vernon was a lifelong member of Martins Creek Mennonite Church. He was a neighborhood Fix-It man. Vernon never met a stranger and loved to visit and talk with everyone he came in contact with, always interested in seeing who was related to who. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Bertha are three children and their spouses, Deborah (Morris) Kandel of Stevensville, Montana, Peg (Rick) Brand of Trail, Ohio and Victor (Tammy) Weaver of Benton, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Kelly Kandel, Corey (Erin) Kandel, Carrie (Jeff) Fidler, Kyle (Stacy) Kandel, Tara (Paul) Herman, Beau Brand, Kesha (Jason) Miller, Arryn (Brock) Hostetler, Codee (Kenny) Miller and Hilary Weaver; 17 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and a sister, Joan Showalter of Yakima, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Garth Weaver; a granddaughter, Katie Kandel; three brothers, Ralph, Joe and John Weaver; and four sisters, Grace Gerber, Anna Simpson, Lela Wengerd and Mabel Miller.
