Wilmer Jacob Hartman, 79, of Goshen, passed away early Saturday morning, March 28, 2015 at Greencroft Healthcare. He was born May 24, 1935 in Elida, Ohio to Jacob and Esther (Diller) Hartman. On July 15, 1956 he married Lois Ann Miller in Plain City, Ohio. She died September 28, 2013. He is survived by four daughters, Marcia Weaver and Evie (Dan) Nafziger, both of Goshen, Rachel (Todd) Miller of Cleveland, Ohio and Lori (Steve) Hartman-Keiser of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Beulah (Clare) Snider of Elida, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a sister, Bertha Slabach and two brothers, Melvin and Marion Hartman. A lifetime minister in the Mennonite church, Wilmer pastored churches in Ohio, Missouri and Michigan. He also served as the Conference Minister for the Ohio Mennonite Conference. He earned a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Ashland Theological Seminary. As a young man he sang with the Mennonite Hour Quartet. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. A Goshen resident since 2004, Wilmer was a member of Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship. Friends may call Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship from 2 to 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastors Dan Schrock and Marilyn Rudy-Froese will officiate. Burial will precede the memorial service. Memorial contributions may be given to Greencroft Foundation.
