Hassell Charles was born July 19, 1926 at Vulcan, Mingo County, WV to Aulbert (1898-1938) & Effie Mullins Charles ( 1904-1986). Aulbert was 28 and Effie was 22. Hassell was the third and youngest son born to the family. He had two older brothers Andrew Charles( 1923-1994) & Orion " O.D." Charles (1924-1997) and 1 younger sister Glennette Mary Bell Charles (Ward) (1929-1999).
Hassell joined the Military August 24, 1944 at Huntington, WV. His draft card shows him as 6' 2", blonde hair and blue eyes.
Hassell married Helen Tygart ( 1932-2000) & together they grew their family to include one son Aulbert Charles and three daughters Patricia Charles Wilson, Phoebe Charles Hatfield and Glennette Charles Kingrey.

Our Uncle Hassell was something else! He was the younger brother of our father and always welcomed our family ( 5 kids!) to their home. We enjoyed visiting our cousins and he was always good to us. We have very fond memories of our times together.
