Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 401 Church Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A private family burial will follow at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, Alabama.
John was born on September 2, 1944, the son of the late William Andrew Christenberry Sr. and the late Ruby Willard Christenberry. He attended and graduated from school in Greensboro High School, also attending Wood Jr. College and the University of Alabama.
John had a long and successful career as an Alabama State Trooper, working in the Alabama Bureau of Investigations and Alabama Governor Security Detail. He initially would serve as a Military Policeman in the National Guard which led him into a life of law enforcement.
He is survived by his children, John "Chris" Christenberry Jr, Scottie Christenberry Giffin and her spouse Mike; grandchildren, Giff, John-Rosser and Braxton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Jo Alyce Abernathy Christenberry and siblings, Danyle Christenberry Maughan and William Andrew Christenberry Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given to Christian Care Center, (attn: Mens Residence) 1309 High Street, Leesburg, FL, 34748, or Calvary Baptist Church, (attn: Security or Kids City Dept.) 401 Church Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
