Willie was born Emil Wilhelm Johnson, the son of Carl Jönsson and Anna Persdotter.

He had four siblings: Emma, Charles, Julius, and Albin Nicolai. He had six half-siblings: Olof, Josefina, Hilda Emelie, Ossian, Johanna Ingeborg, and Anna Marie.

Willie married Rose Helena Halvorson on June 18, 1921.

They were the parents of five children: Evelyn Ruth, Florence Luella, Wallace Leroy, Leona Delores, and Robert Luverne.

Willie Johnson 1901-1969

Willie Emil Johnson, 68, passed away at the Fosston Hospital on Friday, October 31, 1969. He had been a patient at the hospital for three days prior to his passing.
Mr. Johnson was born in Oslo, Minnesota, on February 18, 1901 to parents Carl and Anna Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith while growing up in Oslo. He moved to Grand Forkks as a young man and lived there for about fifteen years. He was married to Rose H. Halvorson in Gully June 18, 1921 and they moved to Holst Township, Clearwater County in 1941. He has been active in farming and for several years was Clearbrook village marshall.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife Rose of Clearbrook and the following children: (Evelyn) Mrs. Charles Pozarnsky of Orange Park, Florida; (Florence) Mrs. Merle Peper of Arlington, Washington; (Leona) Mrs. John Djerness of Clearbrook; and son Robert L. of Clearbrook. Nineteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren survive, as well as one sister Emma, Mrs. John Larson of East Grand Forks, and three brothers, Julius of Alvarado, Charles of Oslo and Albin of Roscoe, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Wallace (World War II in Italy, 1944), one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 4, 1969 at 1 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Clearbrook. Rev. Richard Larson officiated and burial was made in the Augustana Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home of Bagley.
