Eva Valdez Hernandez, 75 was called home to Our Lord on Friday, February 2, 2018.

Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Funeral mass will follow the rosary on Tuesday morning at 10:45 a.m. at the Catholic Church with Father Alan Valencia officiating. Holy burial will follow the mass in the Eloy Memorial Park Cemetery with Deacon Pat Alavarez officiating the committal. Serving as pallbearers are: Steve Perez, Antonio Perez, Dwayne Candelario, Carlos Ramirez, Danny Valdez and Raymond Valdez.

Mrs. Hernandez was born on Tuesday, October 6, 1942 in Greeley, Colorado to Jose and Mercedes-Redondo Valdez. She was a graduate of Santa Cruz Valley Union High School in Eloy. Eva co-owned and operated the once existing Valley Fitness Center and worked as a kindergarten paraprofessional at Mary C. O’Brien Elementary School until she retired. She was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and a life-long resident of Arizona. Eva was a loving wife, outstanding mother and amazing grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed but will remain forever in our hearts.

Eva is preceded in death by her two infant daughters, Mary Theresa Smith and Mary Ann Smith (from her previous marriage to Charles Hank Smith); her father, Jose Valdez; and her sister, Julia Valdez.

Eva is survived by her husband of 20 years, Serapio Hernandez; her daughter, Lisa Ann Smith-Perez (from her previous marriage to Charles Hank Smith); her son-in-law, Steve Perez; her cherished grandson, Michael Antonio Perez; her mother, Mercedes Valdez; her four sisters, Vel Salazar, Maque Zaragoza, Carmen Valdez and Diana Valdez; her six brothers, Joe Valdez, Luis Valdez, Cruz Valdez, Raymond Valdez, Larry Valdez, and Danny Valdez; several nieces and nephews; and her many friends.
