1850 census - listed age 36 - approx. year of birth would be 1814.
1860 - listed age 42 - approx. year of birth would be 1818.
1870 - listed age 50 - approx. year of birth would be 1820.
1880 - listed age 64 - approx. year of birth would be 1816.

It's really hard to know exactly what year he was born. He was certainly quite a bit older than his 2nd wife Phoebe Jane Music. However, DNA matches have shown that certain family lines share both Mollett and Music DNA MRCAs (Most Recent Common Ancestors).

There is a marriage record for a James Mollett and a Feraby Jane Musick. They were married 30 Jun 1861, but no ages are listed in this particular record.

His father Nathan Mollett 1786–1859 was 28 and his mother Thamisine Stafford 1793– was 21 when he was born. He married Margaret Blevins 1825– on 16 Mar 1934 and they had nine children together. He then married Phoebe Jane Music 1839–1922 on 30 Jun 1861 (see source "James Mallett in the Kentucky, County Marriage Records, 1783-1965") and they had five children together. He died before 1900 in Kentucky.
