He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Burns (Derek) of Dallas, Texas, Brigit Peterson (Trent) of Des Moines, Iowa, and Adriane Arnold (Luke) of The Woodlands, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Benjamin, Isaiah, Regina, Dominic and Gloria Peterson, and Dani, Drew, D.J., Deven and Dawson Burns, and Jack, Luke and Joe Arnold; and one sister, Marty Smith Gassaway of Little Rock.
Ron (aka Frog or Toad to his childhood friends and family) graduated from high school in El Dorado. He joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served in Vietnam and Newfoundland. After being honorably discharged from the military, he moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he met and married his bride Brenda and graduated from LSU. He worked as a USDA meat inspector for 33 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W Virtue St., Chalmette, Louisiana, on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. A funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors, alongside his wife in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Ron to a Veteran’s charity of your choice.
