Following this experience, he relocated to Hollywood and found minor parts in the films "The Blackboard Jungle" (1955) and "Love Me or Leave Me" (1955) before finding a more substantial role in the Frank Sinatra picture "The Tender Trap" (1955). He found his niche on the small screen and seemed at home in Westerns, including "Gunsmoke," "Rawhide," and "Wagon Train," before landing his signature role in "The Virginian."
