DENISON, Texas - Vivienne "Vi" Stringer, 93, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Wesley Village in Denison.

Vivienne was born on July 26, 1914, in Wellsford to Benjamin and Inez (Shiell) Gear. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1931 and attended Parsons Junior college for a year.

She married Maynard Eugene "Gene" Stringer on Feb. 14, 1935, in Erie, Neosho County, Kansas. The Stringers moved to Parsons in 1941. They moved to Denison in 1957. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stringer was a housewife and helped her husband with income tax and bookkeeping service.

She was a member of Waples Methodist Church of Denison, the Criterion Sunday school class and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Blaich and her husband, Richard; a son, Kent Stringer and his wife, Carolyn; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Stringer Tierce; 10 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy D. Gear and his wife, Elanor; and two sisters, Laura Welte and her husband, Don, and Frances Hill.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Max Stringer; and a brother, Don Gear.

The service was in Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel in Denison with Jim Bowen officiating. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
