Marian Louise (Skelton) Grant Swift, 85, of Conway passed from this world for a long overdue rest on Monday, October 14, 2019.
The only daughter of the late Jacob Yoes Skelton and Louise Mary (Nabholz) Skelton, she was born March 26, 1934, in Menifee, Ark. A lifelong Catholic, she graduated from St. Joseph High School in Conway in 1952.
She married John William Grant that same year, moving to Tennessee before coming back to Arkansas and, eventually back to Conway. John died in December, 1978.
In 1994, she married William Swift, which lasted until his death in April, 2009 in Maumelle, Ark. Marian held a number of jobs in her life, the most productive being a legal secretary, then later as secretary and assistant to Bishop Andrew J. McDonald of the Catholic Diocese in Little Rock. in 2010, she was presented with the certificate 'Per Ecclesia et Pontifice' ('For the Church and the Pope') by Pope Benedict XVI.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Albert Skelton, Phillip Daniel Skelton and David Francis Skelton; a son, James Kevin Grant; son-in-law, Larry Helton, and great-nephew, Jared Nathaniel Skelton.
