Capt. Lore, 79, Newport, Dies

Former Member of N.J. Shell Fisheries Board

Captain Addie Lore, 79, of Newport, retired oysterman and lifetime resident of Newport, died last night in the Fairlawn Hospital, Philadelphia, following three years of failing health.

The deceased suffered a fractured hip about three years ago in a fall from a tree and never fully recovered. He was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago.

He operated two oyster boats out of Newport for years and was associated with the oyster business since a young man. He is well known throughout the county. About six years ago he served on the New Jersey Board of Shell Fisheries. He was a member of the Newport Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Esta Gehring of Newport; Mrs. Marguerite Mashchi, Vineland, and Mrs. Ada Newcomb, Pitman; two sons, George and Joseph of Newport; one sister, Mrs. Luther Bateman of Newport; and two brothers, Evans C. Lore of Newport and John H. Lore of Cedarville. His wife Ada died about six years ago.

Funeral services will be held from the late residence in Newport on Monday afternoon, with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville.
