Kit Cates, 95, of Jackson County, formerly of Red Lick died suddenly Monday, April 4, 2022 as the result of a tractor accident. He was a resident of the Berea area most of his life, born January 1, 1927, son of the late Grover and Lizae Johnson Cates, retired Eastern Kentucky University employee, member of the Southern Baptist Faith and attended Owsley Fork Baptist Church.
In his spare time Kit was a farmer, property owner, enjoyed owning and working mules and horses, and was a logger.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Daisy Herd Cates; siblings Opal, Valerie, Lucy, Lottie, Edna, Emma, Beulah, Cecil, Russell, Oscar, Edkar. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Service 2:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2022 at Reppert Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation 12:00 Noon until service time.
