Actor, Comedian, and Entertainer. A comedian of TV, films and stage, he is remembered for his loud and harsh tone of voice. Born Gilbert Jeremy Gottfried to Jewish parents, his father operated a hardware store on Coney Island. He began his career as a standup comedian at the age of fifteen and after nearly a decade on the club circuit, he made a name for himself with an appearance on "Saturday Night Live" in 1980. He went on to appear on "SNL" more than a dozen times, as well as numerous appearances on "The Howard Stern Show." Over the decades, he did a large amount of voice work on such animated programs as "Aladdin" (1994 to 1995) "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (2014 to 2016) and "Cyberchase" (2002 to 2022) for which earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 2009. Additionally, for a period he provided the voice of the Aflac Duck in the television commercial for insurance. He also appeared in "Beverly Hills Cop II" as the lawyer, Sidney Bernstein. He hosted a podcast, "Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast," from 2014 until his death, which highlighted classic movies and celebrity interviews. A documentary film on his life and career, "Gilbert," was released in 2017.
