Robert grew up in Walnut Creek, OH. He served in World War II in the South Pacific. He was a high school principal at Hiland and Dover, basketball coach at Hiland and lifelong educator for 41 years. He served as the last Mayor of Shanesville and as President of Dover City Council. After retirement in Ohio, Robert moved to FL and became the Evening Director at Charlotte Vocational School in Port Charlotte, FL. After his second retirement he volunteered hundreds of hours at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL.
He was married to Marjorie (Mast) for 57 years until her death in July 2004. Robert was very devoted to his Christian beliefs and wrote articles and gave lectures on The Gospel for Your Salvation. He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Randy) Schneider of North Port, FL; two sons, ret. Maj. James Schrock and Steven (Reyne) Schrock of Port Charlotte, FL; four grandchildren, Randall (Julie) Schneider Jr., Susan (Alex) Schneider-Brito, Carol (Travis) Hout and Zach Schrock; six great grandchildren, Jesse (DeAnna), Olivia, Andrew Schneider; Eva Schneider-Brito; Ellie and Carson Hout; and a great great grandchild due in March.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Thomas; five brothers, Ferman, Paul, Nelson, Noland, and Howard; and six sisters, Kathryn Shrock, Mary Oswald, Esther Gerber, Betty Bontreger, Dorothy Beachy and Anna Jean Troyer.
No services are scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life is being planned for this July.
