ROSEMARY BUSBY SMITH, 89, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, Feb.8, 2008. Born July 27, 1918, she was the only daughter of Baeder F. and Ann Martin Busby.

Rosemary graduated valedictorian of Mt. St. Mary Academy class of 1936. She later graduated from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in 1939, and then obtained her B.A. from Maryville College in St. Louis. In 1941, she continued graduate work at St. Louis University in Public Health.

Moving to Little Rock in 1945, she worked as a RN consultant for several nursing homes for many years. Rosemary worked with Dr. Edgar Easley to pass legislation to ensure each nursinghome had an RN or LPN on staff. She later worked with Woodbridge E. Morris, M.D., until her retirement in 1981.

Rosemary enjoyed traveling with her daughters, and being with her nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Reverend Martin E. Busby and John Vincent Busby, M.D., she is survived by two daughters, Ann Martin Smith of Little Rock, Ark., and Brendan Smith of Kansas City, Mo. RoRo is also survived by her nephews and nieces, John G. Busby of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mary Busby Stramel and her husband, Tom, Joseph M. Busby and his wife, Jolie, Martha Cross and her husband, Jim, and James B. Busby of Little Rock, along with numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Our Lady of The Holy Souls with Msgr. Royce Thomas, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th, Little Rock (501) 661-9111.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the doctors at Hospice Home Care, and the caregivers at Presbyterian Village and Hospice Home Care In-Patient Center.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care, Inpatient Center, 2200 S. Bowman Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72211.
