Goldie Rose Holms, one of nine children of Adolph and Lauretta Tracy Klawitter, was born January 4, 1912, on a farm near Nelson, Nebraska, and passed away May 25, 1982, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Goldie spent her childhood days living in the Nelson area and attended the Nelson and Oak Public Schools. She has lived her entire life in or around Nelson, except for a brief five months when she lived at Wichita, Kansas.
September 11, 1929, Goldies was united in marriage to Charles Holms at Nelson. To this union one daughter was born.
She has been a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, since 1930, where she served as deacon. She was a faithful worker in her church until her illness prevented her from attending. She was also a member of the U.D. and Fairview Clubs in Nelson.
Goldie loved her hobbies, ceramics, painting and gardening with her flowers.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and one sister, Beulah Klawitter.
Survivors include her husband, Charles of Nelson; daughter, Mrs. Ray (Kathryn) Mumma of Port Hueneme, California; four sisters, Erma Welch of Wapakonta, Ohio, Gertrude Horton of Orange, California, Wilma Leighton of Upper Lake, California, and Helen Harding of Boise, Idaho; three brothers, Raymond Klawitter of Superior, Leon Klawitter of Bend, Oregon, and Lavern Klawitter of Wapakonta, Ohio; four grandchildren; two foster grandchidlren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 28, at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in Nelson with Rev. Richard Markland officiating. Pallbearers were Louis Keim, Joe Ferebee, Marvin Thurber, Earl Lewis, Doug Muehlich and Arnold Essink. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Harrington, Gerald Whiteley, Glenn Oltmans, George Himmelberg, Ralph Meyer and Wilbur Wilson. "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In The Garden" were sung by the Presbyterian Church Choir with Esther Wehrman as organist. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Arrangements by the Klawitter Funeral Home, Nelson.
