Complications, Fatal To Step-Mother, Of Mrs. Cecil Bosworth
Mrs. Alma Spitler, 69, died at 5:15 o'clock Friday evening at home four and one-half miles south of Salamonia, following a week's serious illness. Death was due t o complication following an operation and she had been in failing health for three months.
The deceased was born on June 10, 1873 at Sharpsburg, Ohio, the daughter of George A. and Jane (Parson) Hathaway.
She was first united in marriage to John A. Ray, who died in 1911. On January 31, 1930, she married J.A. Spitler, who survives.
She is suvived by two children, Howard S. Ray, of Colubus, Ohio, and Mrs. Marion Hicks, of San Diego, Calif.
Three step-childen, O.R. Spitler, of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Cecil Bosworth of Portland and Mrs. Noah Bunker of Union City also survive. Three step-children are also decesead.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lulisis Hiatt of Pioneer, Can., Stephen Hathaway of Salem and William Hathaway of Muncie.
Two granchildren, one great granddaughter, seven step-grandchildren and the following half brother brothers and sisters survive, Mrs. Mack Evans of Dunkirk, Mrs. Dan Hole of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Mrs. Elmer Mitchell of Bradford, Ohio, Basil Hathaway of Redkey, Mrs. Bernard Chew of Salamonia, Leon Hathway of near Salamonia, Mrs. Lawerence Shirk of Boundary.
The deceased was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Los Vegas, N. Mex.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Pleasant Hill church, Rev. John Watson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
The body was removed to the Williamson funeral home for he preparation and returned to the late residence Saturday afernoon where friend may call.
